Groundbreaking neuro-based supervisor development programme that equips supervisors and line managers to 'lead with the brain in mind' to create high-performance team cultures that optimizes performance, job satisfaction, productivity, safety, engagement and ultimately, productivity.

Neuro-Based Supervisor Development Programme

Leading from the middle is often the most difficult thing to do and most supervisors know how challenging that can be. Having to deal with production pressure from management above and all kinds of pressure from the workforce below, it's no wonder that supervisors - often lacking even the most basic leadership and management skills training - are often overworked and overwhelmed while often accused for the performance bottleneck in many companies.

WHY MOST NEW SUPERVISORS UNDERPERFORM

An international survey have shown that while as much as 60% of new supervisors and frontline managers underperform or even fail in their jobs, 47% of companies don’t offer any new supervisor training. A report published in the Harvard Business Review found that, on average, supervisors or managers only receive training ten years after having started in their new roles.

In addition, only about 34% of new supervisors and frontline managers receive any mentoring and a mere 31% receive any coaching.

The ramifications are often severe and lasting. Research by the Ken Blanchard Companies shows what we often see in practice - that poor leadership habits developed in a manager’s formative first years will hold them back for the rest of their careers. By failing to invest in the development of their supervisors and new managers, companies are creating a culture of poor leadership which - if they survive - will continue to sabotage their performance for decades to come.

EQUIPPING SUPERVISORS FOR 21st CENTURY LEADERSHIP

While the lack of training cause even experienced supervisors to struggle, it often makes it very difficult for new supervisors and frontline managers to make the 3 CRITICAL TRANSITIONS required when taking the step up from team member to team leader:

  • managing self versus managing others;
  • moving from peer to manager; and
  • developing 'soft skills' to lead people in addition to the 'hard skills' required to do their jobs.

Since launcing our Supervisor Development Programme in 2016, we've had great success (see testimonies)  in helping some of the globe's most foreward-thinking companies equip their supervisors with the knowledge and skills to effectively lead and influence people in the 21st Century workplace. This programme is targeted to the needs of existing  and developing leaders at operational level.

A NEURO-BASED APPROACH TO LEADERSHIP

Each of the 14 modules (1 or 2-day workshops) in our Supervisor Development Programme focuses on a leadership competency skill set (click here for a list of modules and descriptions) known to be critical for success at this level.  All modules as well as coaching interventions incorporate the principles and practices of neuro-based leadership and neurosafety in an innovative, exciting and mind-expanding manner. This potentially game-changing and science-based approach enable leaders to lead and manage in brain-friendly ways that optimizes performance, work satisfaction, productivity and engagement.
Neuro-based leadership (understanding and managing some of the neural processes that drives behaviour) is not a 'soft' approach to leading or managing. Instead, it gives leaders the knowledge, skills and confidence to bring out the best in people by triggering neural responses in the brains of those they lead that links to higher engagement and performance. By applying the principles of neuro-based leadership, leaders empower their people to perform at their best.

While this may seem a little 'up there' to some, we have packaged the scientific information in a way that is clearly understandable and practically applicable even to participants with no knowledge of or background in neuroscience. In structure the programme thus integrates some academic input with experiential learning and practical discovery. Feedback from participants (see testimonies) has been overwhelmingly positive, with many supervisors testifying to having seen real and positive change in their workplaces as a result of implementing what they have learnt.

HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS

The Supervisor Development Programme consist of 14 modules (click here for a complete list of modules and their descriptions) from which you select only those you need (minimum of 3) to address your team’s current development needs. Once you’ve made your selection and decided on the sequence in which you want us to present the workshops, we will quote you on the costing and if the quote is accepted, we will jointly set the dates and time schedule (normally one workshop per group per month).  To decide which modules you want to include for your supervisors, please have a look at the description of each workshop below.

FOLLOW-ON COACHING: Studies have shown that while classroom training increased performance with an average of more than 20%, adding a one-to-one coaching intervention after the training can push performance up with as much 88%. We therefore strongly recommend that a one-on-one coaching intervention (read more about our coaching options here) be included in your programme. Coaching will be customized to your supervisor team's goals and needs and will be performed by a certified coach.

Invoicing will be done on a monthly basis which means that the cost is spread evenly over the period that the programme is running. Select the modules you need right away and let us help your supervisors become effective brain-minded 21st Century leaders!
